I’ve run ‘ nslookup -type=srv _vlmcs._tcp’ on the client and it can see the KMS host that is supposed to be servicing ‘Office 2016’ activations. Resolution To fix the issue, download and install the latest Microsoft Office 2016 Volume License Pack (.1002). The count on the KMS host hasn’t increased by one either. Cause The issue occurs when you cohost the Office 2013 KMS host and the Office 2016 KMS host on the same system, and that system is running either Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. I’ve tried testing the KMS host by converting an ‘Office 2016’ installation on a client from MAK to KMS activation following the article below. Both installed and activated successfully with their respective CSVLK keys on the KMS I’ve installed the ‘ Office 2010 KMS Host License Pack’ (V.5000) and the ‘ Office 2016 Volume License Pack’ (V.1002). I’ve recently set up a ‘Windows 2012 Standard R2’ server as a KMS host.
